BOSTON — Like all great dramas, an investigation of complex and murky supply chains across Asia offers no clear rights or wrongs. Yes, some high-tech workers are treated unfairly. And yes, most companies are trying to do something about the problem.
Moreover, almost nobody would buy a $1,000 iPhone or other mobile device, so big brands have an incentive to drive manufacturing costs lower. Suppliers have an incentive to make that possible. And the workers themselves have an incentive to, well, work.
