BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Argentina's Lanus defeated Brazil's Ponte Preta 2-0 on Wednesday to win the Copa Sudamericana final 3-1 on aggregate.
Ismael Blanco scored the opener on the stroke of halftime before Paraguay international midfielder Victor Ayala struck the home team's second in the 69th minute.
Wednesday's result followed a 1-1 draw in last week's first leg in Sao Paulo, ensuring Lanus their first international trophy.
It also handed the Argentine outfit a berth in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's elite club competition.
The Copa Sudamericana is the region's second most important continental club trophy.
