Rwanda, DRC fight leaves four dead
KIGALI, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Fighting erupted on Wednesday between soldiers from the Democratic Republic of Congo and rival Rwandan forces on the volatile border, killing four Congolese soldiers, officials said.
The fight began before dawn in Kanyesheza, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of the provincial capital Goma, and lasted for 30 minutes, the officials said.
A statement by the Rwandan government said the fight was part of series of actions by the DRC to continue to undermine regional efforts towards peace.
It said the fighting took place in Rusura cell located in Busasamana sector, when a section of the DRC army crossed the border to Rwanda where they opened fire on a Rwanda Defense Force (RDF) patrol.
The attacks come less than a year after a series of bombs were launched on Rwandan territory by FARDC.
In the statement, Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and government spokesperson, Louise Mushikiwabo warned the DRC leadership against any further hostilities.
