Myanmar opposition leader visits Nepal
KATHMANDU, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi arrived in Nepal Friday for a four-day visit, officials here confirmed.
She landed at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Friday afternoon along with her chief of staff and two aides. She was received by Nepal's Foreign Minister Mahesh Acharya.
Suu Kyi is scheduled to address Nepal's Constituent Assembly ( CA) on Saturday.
Nepal's foreign relations experts said that Suu Kyi has a deep affection for this Himalayan country and its people.
She visited Nepal in 1962 at the age of 17, together with her mother, Daw Khin Kyi. She visited Nepal for the second time in 1973 with her husband Michael Aris and son Alexander Kyi Aris.
Suu Kyi has written a book about Nepal in which she illustrated the geography, politics and culture of this small South Asian Himalayan country.
