Two dead, 19 missing after boat with 80 Indonesians capsizes in Malaysian waters
KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Two people drowned and 19 were still missing after a boat with 80 Indonesian illegal immigrants capsized off Tanjun Piai near Pontian in Malaysia early Tuesday, according to Bernama, Malaysia's state news agency.
Johor assistant director of fire and rescue operations Mohd Rizal Buang said the boat collided with a vessel of the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency and capsized.
Mohd Rizal said that the two dead, a man and a woman, were among 61 people pulled out of the water by the rescuers.
Ten people were injured and had been sent to hospital, while the other 49 people were safe, he added.
He said 20 fire and rescue personnel were continuing to search for the remaining passengers of the boat.
