Mumbai on high alert after police chief gets threat letter
NEW DELHI, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Police have put Mumbai on high alert after the police chief of India's financial capital recently received a threat letter of a possible terror attack, sources said Sunday.
"Mumbai Police commissioner Rakesh Maria received the letter on July 25 saying, 'Stop us this time if you can, you were lucky in 1993'," the sources said.
Mumbai witnessed a series of bomb blasts in 1993, in which over 300 people were killed.
"The letter could be a prank. But we are taking no chances," the sources added.
