2nd LD Writethru: One killed, 13 injured in blast in Pakistan's Quetta
ISLAMABAD, July 27 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and 13 others injured as a bomb blast hit a market in Pakistan's southwestern metropolitan of Quetta on Sunday, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Aitzaz Goraya, said the incident took place when a bomb blast ripped through the busy Qandhari Bazaar in Quetta, the capital of southwestern province of Balochsitan.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the body and the injured to the civil hospital of the city.
Hospital sources said that the death toll may further rise as three of the injured were in critical condition.
The victims include shopkeepers and common people who were busy in shopping in the market.
Police said the bomb was planted outside a shop. However, motive behind the attack was not known yet.
The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) said around half a kilogram of explosives was used in the blast and it was detonated with a time device.
Police and paramilitary forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
