Tokyo shares sharply plunge by break
Tokyo, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares ended the morning session sharply lower following a poor performance in the overnight U.S. market, with heavily weighted Nikkei component Softbank leading the decline.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 152.71 points, or 1. 00 percent, from Tuesday to end the morning session at 15,167.60.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 12.06 points, or 0.95 percent, to 1, 251.47.
Decliners were led by utility, mining and bank shares.
