BRUSSELS, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- The office of the Belgian government said on Saturday that Belgium would use an army plane to ship humanitarian aid to Kurdish fighters in northern Iraq.
The aid would include medicines, foods and other necessities for first aid collected by different NGOs.
The cost of this operation will be supported by the departments of Defense, Foreign Affairs and Equal Opportunities, according to a statement of the office.
Moreover, the Belgian Cooperation has also made "additional" contribution in humanitarian aid for Iraq to the tune of 2 million euros, the statement said.
The security situation has begun to deteriorate dramatically in Iraq since the outbreak of bloody clashes in June between security forces and the Islamic State militants.
