Vietnam's southern stock market ends up
HO CHI MINH CITY, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 629.06 points on Tuesday, up 3.18 points, or 0.51 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 135.433 million shares worth 2.594 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (122.13 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 94 stocks went up, 124 stocks fell down, while 85 stocks remained unchanged.
VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 668.25 points, up 6.49 points, or 0.98 percent.
A total of 61.209 million shares worth 1.577 trillion VND (74. 24 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Tuesday.
