Key match-ups for Africa Cup of Nations semi-final between Burkina Faso and Ghana on Wednesday:
Jonathan Pitroipa (BUR) v Fatawu Dauda (GHA)
Burkina Faso were dealt a bitter blow with the competition-ending injury of Alain Traore, their gifted and prolific Lorient striker. Pitroipa, though, stepped in to grab the winner in the quarter-final against Togo to take his tally to two. But in Dauda he faces a goalkeeper who has excelled in South Africa, producing a couple of superb saves to keep Cape Verde at bay and put Ghana into the semis.
Bakary Kone (BUR) v Asamoah Gyan (GHA)
Lyon defender Kone will have to be at the top of his game to put the shackles on Ghana's talismanic captain Asamoah Gyan, who will be hungry to add to the goal he scored against Niger in the final group game. Coach Kwesi Appiah rates the part-time musician the best striker in Ghana, and a huge inspiration to the team. Kone showed he was up to the job, though, when keeping Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor in check. He is on a high after becoming a father for the second time the day after another good performance in containing eliminated champions Zambia to a 0-0 draw.
