Wales suffered a late setback ahead of their friendly international against Austria when Aaron Ramsey withdrew through injury just hours before kick-off on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Arsenal midfielder pulled out of the match at Swansea's Liberty Stadium with a calf problem and has now returned to his club for treatment.
Confirming Ramsey's exit, a Football Association of Wales statement said: "Aaron Ramsey has this (Wednesday) afternoon withdrawn from the Wales squad to face Austria at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.
"Aaron has a problem with his calf and has returned to his club Arsenal for treatment."
Wales manager Chris Coleman, speaking to Sky Sports shortly before kick-off, added: "Everything was going swimmingly well but he (Ramsey) was a bit tight in his calf.
"We thought it was better to be safe than sorry, so Aaron has gone back to Arsenal."
