Five people were killed on Sunday when a lifeboat fell from a cruise liner during a safety drill while it was docked at La Palma in the Canary Islands, local authorities and media reports said.
The accident at the port of Santa Cruz on La Palma, the most northwesterly of the Canaries, also left three people injured, a statement from the regional government said.
No details were immediately available about the dead, but the regional rescue service said the injured were three men, including a Greek national.
Local media said the accident happened while staff were conducting an evacuation drill on the cruise ship.
