Spain's all-time record scorer David Villa has been hospitalised suffering from colic his club Barcelona announced on Monday.
The 31-year-old - who scored in the 6-1 thrashing of Getafe on Sunday - is unlikely to play any part in Barcelona's La Liga match with Granada next Saturday.
"The player will undergo in the next few hours treatment to prevent kidney stones forming," the club said on its website.
"Villa is doubtful for next Saturday's game."
It is the latest blow for Villa, who spent several months out last year after breaking his left leg in December 2011 and in January missed three matches with a right thigh strain.
