A US sheriff's deputy died Tuesday after a shootout with fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner, said to be barricaded in a mountain cabin, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Officials said earlier that two officers were injured in the shootout with the 33-year-old, believed holed up after being spotted with a stolen car near the California ski resort of Big Bear.
One of the San Bernadino County Sheriff's deputies died of his injuries, the LA Times reported, as police were said to have surrounded the cabin where the former LA Police Department cop was pinned down.
Police launched a massive manhunt last week for Dorner, who had already been accused of killing three people, and threatening to kill other police in a chilling online manifesto.
