URGENT ¥¥¥ Alpine skiing: Ligety defends world giant slalom title

American Ted Ligety defended his giant slalom title at the World Ski Championships on Friday.

The 28-year-old American, already a gold medallist here in the super-G and super combined, clocked an aggregate of 2min 28.92sec over two runs.

Austrian Marcel Hirscher took silver at 0.81sec, with Italian Manfred Moelgg claiming bronze at 1.75sec.
