"Spanish authorities have informed us that the identification process was completed and that he (the detainee) is Djordje Prelic," Dacic told the Tanjug news agency.
Prelic, who was detained on Wednesday, was currently being held in Barcelona, he added.
He had been on the run since the murder of Brice Taton and was sentenced in 2011 to 35 years in jail.
But last year, the appeals court considerably cut sentences against 14 fans sentenced for murdering Taton. The 14, including Prelic, were eventually sentenced to between four and 15 years in prison. Prelic got his sentence reduced to 15 years in jail.
Taton was attacked in a Belgrade bar on September 17, 2009 as he arrived in the Serbian capital to attend the Europa League match between Toulouse and Partizan Belgrade that the French team won 3-2.
The 28-year-old Frenchman was beaten with wooden bats before being thrown down a flight of stairs and died in a Belgrade hospital 12 days later.
