URGENT ¥¥¥ 36 killed in new DR Congo battles: UN
Battles between the army and a militia in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have left at least 36 dead and thousands of people have sought refuge at a UN peacekeeping base, a UN spokesman said Thursday.
Between 3,000 and 4,000 people have gathered around a small UN base at Kitchanga in the mineral-rich North Kivu province following the battles which erupted Wednesday, UN deputy spokesman Eduardo del Buey told reporters.
