Unemployment in France rose to 10.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012, the highest in 14 years, according to official data released on Thursday.
The jobless rate in the eurozone's second-largest economy increased by 0.4 percentage points from 10.2 percent in third quarter of last year, the national statistics institute Insee said.
French President Francois Hollande has said that reducing the rising unemployment rate is one of his main objectives.
