Nice attacking midfielder Valentin Eysseric has been handed a ban of 11 matches for a challenge that broke the ankle of Saint-Etienne's Jeremy Clement last weekend.
Eysseric and his club have confirmed that they will not appeal the suspension, handed down by the French league's disciplinary commission, which means he will miss the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old, who had been enjoying an outstanding breakthrough season in the top flight, was shown a straight red card for the shocking challenge.
Former Lyon, Rangers and Paris Saint-Germain player Clement was left with an open fracture of the right ankle and has been ruled out for between five and six months after undergoing surgery.
