England were 58 without loss in their second innings, trailing New Zealand by 235 at lunch on the fourth day of the first Test at University Oval in Dunedin on Saturday.

New Zealand declared their first innings at 460 for nine, for a first innings lead of 293 with Hamish Rutherford making 171 and Brendon McCullum 74.

For England, James Anderson took four for 137.
