Australian veteran Lleyton Hewitt rallied to topple American John Isner, ranked 15th in the world and a finalist here last year, from the Indian Wells Masters on Saturday.
Hewitt, a former World No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion a decade ago, defeated the top-ranked US player 6-7 (6/8), 6-3, 6-4 in a second-round match.
The 32-year-old Aussie will face 18th-seeded Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka for a place in the round of 16.
Hewitt, now ranked 98th in the world, won the Kooyong Classic exhibition tournament in the build-up to the Australian Open in January, but he hadn't put together back-to-back wins on the ATP Tour this year.
