Klaus Kroll will need a second operation on the broken arm he suffered in a fall on Thursday, the Austrian team's spokesman said Saturday.

Kroll suffered a fracture in his upper arm after a spectacular crash in the super-G at Lenzerheide in Switzerland.

The 2012 downhill World Cup winner was airlifted to hospital in neighbouring Chur after his crash before undergoing surgery.

But he now needs another operation.

"Following an examination at the clinic it was decided that he will need to be operated on a second time. The operation will take place today (Saturday)," said spokesman Markus Aichner.

The 32-year-old Kroll is nonetheless due to return to his homeland on Sunday.
