Football: Edwards named Glory head coach

Alistair Edwards has been appointed the senior coach of Australian A-League club Perth Flory for the next three seasons, the club said on Thursday.

Edwards, who was in a caretaker coach role following the sacking of former Glasgow Rangers midfielder Ian Ferguson, beat applicants from England, Scotland, Holland, Italy, Germany and Ukraine to win the full-time Glory job.

Football Federation Australia released Edwards from his position as national assistant technical director and head coach of the national under-17 squad to take the Glory position.
