CORRECTED: Italy foreign minister resigns over return of marines to India

Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi said Tuesday he was resigning from his post in protest over the return of two Italian marines to India to face murder charges.

"I resign in contention with the decision to send the marines back to India. The misgivings I expressed had no effect on the decision taken," he told parliament, following the government's decision on Friday to send back the men who are accused of shooting dead two fishermen off the coast of the southwestern Indian state of Kerala.
