6.4-magnitude quake strikes Papua New Guinea

A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Papua New Guinea on Wednesday, the US Geological Survey said, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake hit at 09:14 am (2314 GMT Tuesday), 31 kilometres (19 mile) north of Rabaul, the USGS said. It was about 18 kilometres (11 miles) deep.
