Delhi gang-rape accused critically ill

A defendant in the trial over a fatal gang-rape on a bus in Delhi last December is in a "very critical" condition in hospital after being attacked by fellow prisoners, his lawyer said Wednesday.

Vinay Sharma, 20, was rushed to the state-run Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday after he started vomiting blood, defence lawyer A. P. Singh told AFP.

"He was vomiting blood and running very high fever. He was also suffering from chest pains. He is in a very critical condition," Singh said.
