Tennis: Rain halts French Open play

Heavy rain brought play to a halt on the fifth day of the French Open on Thursday at 1230 (1030GMT).

Before the suspension, Serb 18th seed Jelena Jankovic and China's Zheng Jie had both made the third round.

Jankovic, a semi-finalist in 2007, 2008 and 2010 beat Spain's Garbine Muguruza 6-3, 6-0.

Zheng reached the last 32 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Melanie Oudin of the United States.

German men's 16th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber also made the third round without hitting a ball when Taiwan opponent Lu Yen-Hsun withdrew with an ankle injury.

Rain had hit the schedule on Tuesday when four hours of play was lost.
