Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has said he wants to leave the club after seven years in the Spanish capital.

The Argentine was captain and scored his 121st goal for Madrid in their 4-2 victory over Osasuna in Jose Mourinho's final game in charge on Saturday.

However, he told reporters afterwards that he has already told the club of his desire to leave.

"I feel that my time has ended, I want a change of scene," he said.

"They were seven intense, hard, happy years. It was a well thought out decision and it isn't easy, but I want to go to a new club, to new challenges.

"The decision has been taken and I hope the club and I can do what is best."

Higuain has been heavily linked with a move to Italian champions Juventus in recent weeks, but he denied that a deal had already been agreed.

"There are offers, including Juventus, but I don't know. I would like to go somewhere that can show for real that they want me."

"I have not decided where I am going. The club already know that I want to go and I wanted to put it to an end because it was my decision.

"Last year there were already meetings, but the manager and my teammates convinced me to stay."

The 25-year-old has won three league titles during his time with Real and was also part of the side that won the Copa del Rey in 2011.
