A company specialising in elite travel is offering package deals for the Sochi Winter Olympics for nearly 16,000 euros, according to Russian newspaper Vedomosti, amid concern about sky-rocketing accommodation prices.
Jet Set Sports, which advertise ticket and hotel deals, did not publish prices on its website but Vedomosti said the firm was offering a package for 670,000 roubles or 15,700 euros ($20,700).
The package is for a week-long stay at a four-star hotel for a couple with daily tickets to the ice skating competition and the closing ceremony.
The revelation comes despite Russian vice-president Dmitri Kozak, who is charged with supervising the Olympic construction projects, insisting that authorities have set a limit on the prices hotels are allowed to charge during the Games.
According to Evgueni Kaploune, the general manager of the Sotchi-Plaza, the national organising committee has done a deal with all the hotels in the Black Sea resort to manage the distribution of hotel rooms.
Almost no rooms are available in the Black Sea resort itself with fans wishing to attend the February 7-23 Games forced to look for accommodation at least 50 kilometres (31 miles) away from Sochi.
