European stocks plummet 3%

The Paris and London stock markets lost three percent in afternoon trading on Thursday, hit by a global sell-off after the US Federal Reserve made strong signals it may soon begin pulling back on its massive stimulus programme.

At around 1430 GMT, the CAC 40 index of leading shares lost 3.01 percent to 3,725.56 points, while the London FTSE 100 sank 3.0 percent to 6,157.76 points.
