Tokyo stocks down 2.14% by break

Tokyo stocks tumbled 2.14 percent on Friday morning as the yen strengthened sharply, weighing on exporter shares.

The Nikkei 225 index lost 312.36 points to 14,250.57 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares gave up 2.12 percent, or 25.43 points, to 1,176.89.
