Dutch art heist trial opens in Bucharest


The trial of six Romanians charged with a dramatic theft from a Dutch museum opened in Bucharest Tuesday, amid fears some of the stolen masterpieces by Monet, Picasso and Gauguin may have been burned.

Four of the accused, including the alleged mastermind of the heist Radu Dogaru, were present for the hearing, an AFP reporter saw.
