La Liga's bottom club Osasuna on Wednesday named Javi Gracia as their new coach, just a day after parting company with Jose Luis Mendilibar.

"The coach and Osasuna have reached an agreement for Javi Gracia to take charge of the first team for the next two years," Osasuna said in a statement on their website.

Gracia, who comes from Pamplona where the club are based, had been in charge of the Villarreal B team and worked in Greece before leading Almeria to promotion to the Spanish top flight last season.

He previously played as a midfielder for Valladolid, Real Sociedad and Villarreal, amongst other teams.

Mendilibar had been in charge of Osasuna since 2011 but was sacked in the wake of the 3-0 home defeat to Villarreal on Saturday, becoming the first coach to lose his job this season in La Liga.
