The Ivory Coast will bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 or 2021, the government said on Thursday.
The government gave the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) the green light to submit the country's candidacy in a communication adopted by the council of ministers.
The west African state "intends to create the conditions to host the continental competition by improving the supply of infrastructure," read the text.
The country last hosted the African showcase in 1984 but their bid to host the 2006 event, while the country was in political turmoil, was overlooked as the tournament was awarded to Egypt.
