Real Madrid's Gareth Bale missed out on his first taste of action at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday after pulling up with an injury in the warm-up.
The Welshman had been due to start the match against Getafe after being included in coach Carlo Ancelotti's original starting line-up.
However, the 24-year-old returned to the dressing room ahead of his teammates during the warm-up and Spanish media reported he had suffered a thigh injury.
Bale's place was taken by Spanish international Isco, who had been due to start on the bench.
Former Spurs star Bale has played just 90 minutes of competitive action for Los Blancos since sealing his world transfer record move earlier this month.
He started and scored on his debut in the 2-2 draw with Villarreal last weekend, but had to be content with coming on as a second-half substitute for the 6-1 hammering of Galatasaray in midweek.
And after the match in Istanbul, the player himself admitted that he was paying for having missed the vast majority of pre-season as negotiations over his move to the Spanish giants dragged on.
"I haven't had a pre-season so that hasn't helped me as I couldn't play at all during the summer," he told reporters.
"Now I am trying to be in the best shape as soon as possible. I need to keep working hard in training and in the matches."
