Gas explosion in Mexico leaves 3 dead

An explosion blamed on a gas leak at a shopping center in Mexico killed at least three people Thursday and left at least 16 injured, officials said.

The blast in Tamaulipas state caused part of the mall to collapse, the state government said.

Rescue teams searched through the rubble in search of more bodies or survivors in the accident in Reynosa on the US border.

Reynosa has a population of 600,000 and in recent weeks has been hit hard by drug-related violence.
