European stocks edge ahead at open

Europe's main stock markets firmed at the start of trading on Monday in subdued deals, with London's FTSE 100 up 0.09 percent to 6,714.38 points.

Elsewhere, Frankfurt's DAX 30 added just 0.04 percent to 9,081.58 points and in Paris the CAC 40 gained 0.08 percent to 4,263.88 compared with Friday's closing values.

Market sentiment was subdued in Europe amid Armistice Day, a holiday of remembrance for the war dead.
