Alpine skiing: Women's downwhill start delayed

The womens's World Cup downhill race at Crans-Montana, Switzerland has been delayed until 13h00 local time (12h00 GMT) due to overnight snowfall, the International Ski Federation announced Saturday.

Heavy snow overnight at the Valais resort forced organisers to scrap the initial 10h15 start (09h15 GMT) in order to clear the snow and prepare the piste.

Training on Friday was cancelled because of heavy snowfall and soft conditions towards the bottom section of the track.

There is also a super-combined race scheduled for Sunday.
