Russian indoor long jump champion Svetlana Biryukova has been provisionally suspended after testing positive for a banned drug, Russia's Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) said Friday.
Biryukova, 22, won this season's Russian indoor championships in February with a winning best of 6.75m, having also set a season leading 6.98m in January.
RUSADA added that 400m runner Roman Semakin, 20, was also provisionally sidelined after also failing a doping test.
The agency said that the positive readings for unnamed substances were from A samples which both athletes gave for testing on February 26 in an out-of-competition control.
"On the grounds of the doping tests' results of A samples, RUSADA decided to impose provisional suspensions on the track and field athletes Biryukova and Semakin," it said.
"The athletes were informed about their possible violations of the doping code and their rights."
