Nigeria president to visit town of schoolgirl kidnapping

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan will visit Chibok, a town in northeastern Borno State where Boko Haram militants abducted more than 200 schoolgirls a month ago, an official in the presidency said Thursday.

"The president will visit Chibok tomorrow (Friday) before heading to France," the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

An official statement said Jonathan will travel Friday to Paris to participate in a summit convened by President Francois Hollande "to discuss fresh strategies for dealing with the security threat posed by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in west and Central Africa." ola-ade/lc
