Queensland on Monday named Sydney Roosters forward Aidan Guerra to make his debut off the interchange bench in next week's State of Origin rugby league series opener against New South Wales in Brisbane.
Guerra was chosen for back-rower Sam Thaiday, who has failed to recover from a calf injury which has kept him sidelined for his Brisbane Broncos club since last month.
Guerra will start from the interchange bench, with South Sydney forward Chris McQueen taking Thaiday's second row position.
The Origin series kicks off at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday, May 28.
