RugbyL: Test trio injury blow for Maroons and Storm

Test stars Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater will miss Queensland's make-or-break second State of Origin game against New South Wales next month after serious injuries in Wednesday's brutal opening loss.

Scrum-half Cronk broke his right arm and will be out for eight to 10 weeks, while fullback Slater has a shoulder injury and will miss up to three weeks, their Melbourne Storm club said Thursday.

Storm's Test skipper Cameron Smith also sprained his right ankle in the 12-8 loss to NSW and may need two weeks to recover.

The injury news is a huge set-back for Queensland as they bid to keep alive the series in the second Origin match at Sydney on June 18 in their pursuit of a ninth straight Origin series.
