Ukraine leader vows 'adequate response' to rebels' plane downing

Ukraine's new Western-backed President Petro Poroshenko vowed Saturday to deliver an "adequate response" to pro-Russian rebels who downed a military transport plane, killing 49 troops.

"Those involved in this cynical act of terror on such a scale will certainly be punished. Ukraine needs peace. But the terrorists will receive an adequate response," Poroshenko said in a statement.
