HTC looks set to launch a new version of its flagship phone with a bigger, 5-inch screen.
According to a report in Pocket Lint, the new handset will be the same as the existing HTC One in terms of specifications and performance, but while the current phone features a 4.7-inch full HD display, the new model’s will be increased, bringing it in line with Samsung’s Galaxy SIV and Sony’s Xperia Z, both of which boast 5-inch HD screens, and both of which have been flying off the shelves.
The HTC One has been no slouch either. The company says the phone has found itself into the hands of 5 million consumers since its launch, and that’s not surprising, as it is widely considered as the closest thing the Android ecosystem has come to offering an iPhone in terms of design, build quality and overall performance.
At the same time, rumors persist that HTC will also be launching a stripped down ‘Google’ version of the handset which does away with the company’s own interface and features in favor of pure Android. The news will no doubt get Android fanbois excited but it could also be good news for anyone looking for a truly premium smartphone which is guaranteed to be bang up-to-date in terms of operating system and Google features for the next two years, yet free of all other clutter and pre-installed apps.ch/kc
