The Swiss luxury brand Bally is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's 1953 ascent of the world's highest mountain with a new capsule collection.
Bally creative directors Michael Herz and Graeme Fidler have designed a men's and women's capsule collection aimed at celebrating the May 29 anniversary of the famous climb.
In fact the brand's links with the event go back to the climbing gear on the famous day: Nepalese climber Tenzing Norgay made the ascent in a pair of Bally's 'Reindeer-Himalaya' boots.
In celebration, the Bally team went back into their archives and re-engineered the boot, which features '360 Degree Non-Slip Grip', a shaved deer skin outer for warmth, and sturdy double-stitched Norwegian construction.
The collection also features men's and women's hiking boots, calf leather and marmot fur bags, smock tops and warm winter parkas.
A May 29 event organized in London by the brand will see Rebecca Stephens, the first British woman to climb Everest, host a day of talks at the Royal Geographical Society with both Hillary and Norgay's children in attendance.
Bally has also launched a special online experience which lets you explore the historic climb: experience.bally.com/world-of-bally/everest/The boots will go on sale from Wednesday, with the rest of the winter collection hitting Bally boutiques in September.
