Jeff Kinney, VlogBrother win Children's Choice Book Awards


The author of the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, Jeff Kinney, has been named the 2013 Children's Choice Book Award author of the year for "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel," while YouTube star John Green won the Teen Book of the Year category with "The Fault in Our Stars."

Kinney has seen a total of nine "Wimpy Kid" books published since 2007, with three of them then turned into movies, while John Green is a well-known YouTube celeb as one half of the Brotherhood 2.0 and VlogBrothers projects, and founder of its fan site NerdFighters.

Also celebrated at the US-based CCBAs as part of Children's Book Week (May 13-19) were "Dork Diaries: Tales from a Not-So-Graceful Ice Princess" by Rachel Renée Russell, which was 5th to 6th Grade Book of the Year, "Bad Kitty for President" by Nick Bruel as the 3rd to 4th Grade Book of the Yea, and "Nighttime Ninja" by Barbara DaCosta and Ed Young, the Kindergarten to 2nd Grade Book of the Year.
