On Tuesday, May 28, CHVRCHES re-enters the Hype Machine's most blogged artists chart thanks to the buzz surrounding latest single "Gun." Elsewhere in the chart collective Black Hippy is causing a stir after deciding to re-mix the Rocko track "U.O.E.N.O."
Scottish electro duo CHVRCHES, which burst on to the Hype Machine's most blogged artists charts in 2012 with debut singles "The Mother We Share" and "Lies," and dropped debut EP "Recover" in March this year, is now back with "Gun." The track has been causing a massive buzz across the indie music blogs, with Breaking More Waves writing, "This is L-O-V-E. This is perfect pop. This is life affirming. This is wonderful," and Prefix Mag describe "Gun" as "loud, boisterous and a good time."
CHVRCHES is expected to drop q debut LP sometime in September.Stream "Gun": soundcloud.com/chvrches/gun
Elsewhere on the Hype Machine's chart, collective Black Hippy, which is made up of Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and Schoolboy Q, is causing something of a stir after dropping a remix of Atlanta rapper Rocko's track "U.O.E.N.O.," which was catapulted into infamy by Rick Ross's remix. The remixed track from Black Hippy, which is free to download, is dividing music blogs, with Surviving The Golden Age writing "Learning apparently nothing from Rick Ross‘ rape glorifying verse, Kendrick Lamar mentions rape in his opening verse and later Ab-Soul raps 'she had sex/she said yes/you know she ain't know that' (whatever that may mean)." Stereogum wrote "[the original track] earned itself a ton of unwanted notoriety in recent months: It's the song where Rick Ross bragged about date rape. So consider this a reclamation" and Ear Milk described the remix as "A nice deviation from Rocko's strong arm track."Stream the Black Hippy remix of "U.O.E.N.O": soundcloud.com/topdawgent/black-hippy-u-o-e-n-o-remix
