Twitter index: Wigan football team, Chicser band

On Tuesday, May 28, Twitter users are discussing the English football team Wigan while others who are fans of YouTube boy band Chicser are hoping to get to chat with member Owy Posadas.

English football team Wigan, which won this year's domestic English football competition the FA Cup, is causing a stir on Twitter, accounting for two of the top ten worldwide trending topics -- tenth placed "Wigan" and seventh placed "Roberto Martinez." The reason behind the football club's popularity on Twitter is a decision by the club's manager, Roberto Martinez, to resign from the club. Martinez, who joined Wigan in 2009 and led the team to 2013's FA Cup Victory, was unable to prevent the club's being relegated from the English Premier League, the highest domestic league in England. Speculation is rife as to which club Martinez will join next but so far nothing has been confirmed.

Elsewhere on Twitter, Owy Posadas is causing a stir and accounting for the second-placed trending topic, after reaching out to chat with fans via the microblogging site. Posadas is a member of the song and dance group Chicser, based in the Philippines, which became internet-famous a few years ago after a video of the group singing was uploaded to YouTube.
