Mexico City, Mar 16 (EFE).- One day late after the scheduled first day was canceled, one of the most important events in the world of Ibero-American music, the three-day Vive Latino Festival, kicked off in Mexico City with the prospect of presenting some 130 bands.
Just before 2 p.m. Friday under a light rain, the Mexican group Centavrvs appeared onstage at the Foro Sol (Sun Forum) arena to officially open the 14th edition of the festival.
Close to 130 bands will take to the six stages of the Foro Sol concert venue in the Mexican capital, one of the promoters of the event, Andres Sanchez, told Efe, adding that some 200,000 music fans are expected to turn up for the event.
This year features an abundance of Spanish bands like Love of Lesbian, Los Punsetes, Violadores del Verso, Mala Rodriguez, Ska-p and Dorian.
There will also be some performers as yet unknown in Mexico like the Spanish rapper of Dominican descent, Arianna Puella, and Xoel Lopez, once leader of the Deluxe group.
Among the international bands most eagerly awaited are Britain's Underworld and Blur, the latter taking the stage Saturday night, as well as Argentina's Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, who will play Sunday night.
